The VII “MollaNasreddin - Azerbaijan - 2016” International Cartoon Contest.

Azerbaijan, a country located on the Great Silk Road and a crosspoint of different civilizations, has been recognized as a place where national and cultural differences are observed, and representatives of different nations and religions coexist in an atmosphere of peace, friendship, tranquillity and mutual understanding. In our country multiculturalism has already become a lifestyle which has no other alternative. Today, establishment of Baku International Multiculturalism Centre is a good example of loyalty to the tolerance principles of the policy carried out in our country nowadays.

The Decision on organization of the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in Baku in 2016 is a true evidence of the attitude of other countries in the world to the multicultural society of Azerbaijan.

TabrizCartoon Interview's With Hicabi Demirci/Turkey

1-What was the main reason for doing the cartoon?
My drawing passion changed it's course when i visited a cartoon expo during my high school years. A dialogue-free cartoon can send a message to the people from all around the world without any distinction of race, language and religion. This is the beauty of the cartoon. This beauty creates a jealousy between other art forms.

Editorial cartoonist are more often confronted to this situation. I prefer to treat subjects not people.

Yes, drawing catoons is my main source of income.

I regularly follow international cartoon websites such asTebrizcartoon, irancartoon websites. I also find Kemal Özyurt's blog very interesting.

9 - In your opinion, what are the best cartoonists in Iran?
This is a very hard question. There are many of them. Many İranian cartoonists have won internationaly recognized awards. I dont want to create any inquety so won't to name somebody.

My daugher Duru's questions are always making me laugh.

To watch a good movie, read a book or to hang out with my familly and friends

Yes. My neighbour started to chat with me after he saw an article in a newspaper about cartoons. :)

I see prizes as a motivation. I dont make any distinction between the prizes that I recieved.

14 - Who is your best cartoonist friend?
I have many cartoonist friends. So i dont want to name somebody :)

15 - What is your opinion about cartoon similarities?
Every cartoonist can experience this. The most important about this is how often it happens.

16 - Apart from cartoon what other art do you do?
I work as an illustrator in a newspaper. Aside of drawing cartoons, I also illustrate some books.

17 - What do you wish you did not meet?
I wish that the events that made us draw Aylan's cartoon did not happen.

My family, my parents, my wife, my children.
